Pricing and Payment

This article explains how the cost of your forwarding service is calculated, when you pay, and how to get a receipt.

How is the Price Calculated

The shipping fee is set by the carrier and is based on:

The size of your luggage — measured by hotel staff at handover using the carrier's size band system

The weight of your luggage — weighed at handover

Your destination — domestic prices vary by distance zone, international prices vary by country

Because hotel staff measure and weigh your luggage at the desk, the final price is confirmed at handover, not when you make the booking. The booking summary shows an estimate based on your destination and carrier selection.

When and How Do I Pay

Payment for the shipping fee is arranged at the hotel front desk when you hand over your luggage. The hotel charges the carrier fee — your hotel may include this in your room bill, ask for direct payment, or have a different arrangement. Ask the front desk about their payment process.

Takumo itself does not charge guests directly — the shipping fee goes to the carrier via the hotel.

Getting a Receipt

Ask the hotel front desk for a receipt at the time of payment. The hotel can also reprint the booking summary from Takumo Pro which includes the carrier fee. Your Takumo booking confirmation email is a record of the booking but does not include the final price, as this is confirmed at handover.

The Price Was Different from the Estimate

The estimate shown in the app is based on a typical size for the carrier and destination you selected. The final price may differ if:

Your luggage measured into a different size band than the estimate assumed

      You have multiple items

Your destination address has a carrier surcharge — e.g. remote areas or airport delivery counters

If you believe the price charged was incorrect, contact Takumo support with your booking reference and we will investigate with the carrier.
